Working on the Wrong Things
POSTED JANUARY 28, 2020
o you ever feel exasperated and frustrated, like you just can’t get ahead?
Every day you go to work and check things off your list, but no matter what you do, you still get bogged down with more junk, fires to put out, and people who are hard to deal with.
For many years I was in the same position. Working on the right things instead of simply working harder was probably the biggest life lesson I had to learn. That didn’t become clear until I was surrounded by people who showed me smarter ways of working than trying to do everything myself, or blindly continuing to do things the way I’d been taught to do them.
Leadership and how to leverage aren’t taught in school. Instead, we’re taught to be ardent about working hard and doing it all ourselves. After a while, though, that just won’t get you where you want to go.
I’m blessed to have the opportunity today to help other professional practice owners see what they may be missing, and where they can make leverage changes in their businesses and personal lives to move the needle toward financial freedom.
You work hard to get into a respectable and lifestyle-generating business, but where do you go next? It shouldn’t be a “someday” retirement in your 60s or even 70s.
I was in the same place, just focusing on what I could do with my hands and my dentistry degree. But that wasn’t a big enough leverage point. I was totally missing other areas of life, business, and wealth-building. Finding the right people to show me that pathway opened up all the doors in the world.
If you’re still playing small-ball, trying to lift all the weights yourself – there’s a better way! I know you’re smart enough, you work hard, and you’re good at lots of things, but you don’t know what you don’t know. So put away the pride – if not for yourself, then for your family and loved ones – and get some help!
