Being Truthful to Yourself

One of the hardest things to do in life is to be honest with yourself.

We all strive to have integrity, to tell the truth, and do what we say we are going to do.

But sometimes, the person we let down the most is ourselves.

There are certain pathways in society that have been planted in our heads from a young age such as go to school, get a good education, obtain a well-paying job, work hard, etc.

These pathways are planted into our heads by our parents, teachers, and industries, and are held at a high regard.

A lot of people follow these pathways that have been planted in their heads, because they believe it is the right route to take.

But each of us has a different DNA, an authentic self, and a unique ability that is often times not discovered until later in life, and sometimes, not at all.

Personally, I have always followed two pathways in my life.

I always had an entrepreneurial side, but I also got an education, worked hard, and became a dentist.

I ran my life, or lives, side by side for many years in parallel.

And when I was in dental school, I bought my first real estate property with my father’s help.

I soon realized that I really loved real estate.

I was a very good dentist, but I also really loved real estate; and my entrepreneurial side kept calling to me.

So, I asked myself, who was the authentic me?

It is possible to be an entrepreneur and a dentist at the same time, but it’s not easy.

The reality is that most of us as entrepreneurs are visionaries and creators.

When I finally gave myself permission to leave my practice, it opened up the door for me to be that entrepreneur I had always wanted to be.

I had no idea where my life was going to go once I left, but leaving took the chains away that were holding me back.

I was much, much happier once I left my practice.

I know that there are many professionals out there that have still not given themselves permission to make that change.

They might be scared to leave their practice or fearful, which is understandable.

And it is true that the deeper entrenched you are in your life, the harder it is to make a change.

But if you are not happy in your life, the first place to start is by being truthful to yourself.

And the best way to make change happen in your life is to sort it out, maybe through a mastermind group, where people understand you.

In Freedom Founders, members are able to come to terms with what they are passionate about, and then learn how to become truthful to themselves.

If you can start to become truthful to yourself and get around other people that can help you sort that out, you will be able to figure out the action steps you need to take to do what you really are passionate about.

You have to be part of a group where other people can guide you and ask you the tough questions, in order to bring you clarity.

If you try to do it all in a vacuum, you will not be ready to make that change.

And, it will be because of fear and trepidation.

If you don’t risk anything in life, then you will have regrets.

And, you don’t ever want regrets.

To your freedom,

 – David
