Making money – that’s usually how we start out in life. How do we make more money, save more money, put away enough money for retirement?
For many, that seems to be our focus for much of our life. I know it was mine.
But when you reach a certain maturity, you move past viewing money as the end goal, and start focusing on what life is really about.
The key thing about making money is trading that money for other things we want more.
Some people want material things – a better place to live, a bigger house, better cars or private school. Money allows you to have those options.
For me, having money is not about getting more material things. It's about having time – because I cannot buy any time back.
None of us know how much time we have left. You may be in your 30s or 40s and think you still have 30, 40, 50 years left to live.
Well, maybe you do – but maybe you don't.
What about the people who you care about? Your loved ones – what if something happens to them, and their life is cut short?
The key thing I want you to think about is this: Change your environment to change the way you think.
Now, I don’t mean on a permanent basis. But from time to time, you've got to change things up.
That could mean going to an island, or somewhere with spectacular scenery – a place that's different, that gives you a different perspective on life.
It lets you relax, but the key thing is, it lets you think differently.
An important mental shift happens when you get away from the busyness of life.
Another key is to change your environment in terms of the people you surround yourself with.
Being around people who are smarter than you, who have different perspectives, can initiate incredible growth in your life.
So those are the two keys: visual change and mental change. You've got to have those two things.
Maybe it's not going to an island, but somehow, you have to break out of the hole of sameness.
Because when you change your environment, you'll start to change the way you think. And when change the way you think, you change the way that you act.
And when you change the way you act, you can transform your life.
Until you change your mental framework, all the other tactics and sales pitches are just noise. It won't make a bit of difference.
At Freedom Founders, that’s a big part of what we do. Yes, we teach how to break the chains – how to optimize your practice, create more free time, turn money into assets, and replace your active income so that you can go free.
But most people don’t realize, we're also changing the way you think in a positive way.
Before you listen to anybody’s advice about your life or what you should do, make sure that person or that group is living life the way you want to live it.
Do they actually demonstrate having true freedom in their life? If not, think twice about listening to what they say. Follow people who are the real deal.
So change your environment, the people you surround yourself with. It’s the first step to transforming your life to a life of true freedom.
