You Must Become the Marketer of Your Dental Practice

The most important lesson that I learned as a professional practice owner and as a dentist, was that my chief objective needed to be on marketing my dental services.

This lesson was hard for me to accept, because it was not how I was trained, nor how I first entered the practice arena.

And unfortunately, this is not how many small business owners or dentists perform today.

Today, most dentists and small business owners learn a craft, become licensed and certified, and then focus on doing that craft as well as possible.

In addition to all of that, they also run their businesses.

This is very difficult to do, more difficult now than it ever was before.

Decades ago, one could do well in the healthcare field without much business training or background. But today, it’s all big business. Wall street has entered the arena, and insurance has marginalized the dental practice.

No longer can one solely be focused on their craft.

It’s still one piece of the puzzle, but it is not everything.

The ability to market and differentiate one’s self is key to running a successful business today.

As a business owner, at least 50% of your efforts need to be on marketing your business or practice.

Because if no one knows about you, then you will be constantly fighting an uphill battle.

You have to get off of that treadmill as quickly as possible.

Learn how to market. It takes effort and resolve, but in order to succeed, you have to be intentional about it.
